About

Barriers To Freedom is the research and impact arm of Freedom Editors, built to break down the barriers to freedom that too often go unseen. From mental health struggles to economic limitation, social stigma, or lack of support.

At its core, BTF is a research-led initiative,  aiming to publish independent mental health studies that explore the emotional and psychological barriers people face when pursuing a freer, purpose-led life. We believe that freedom doesn’t just begin with a passport or a plan - it starts in the mind.

From there, BTF grew into a wider mission, now home to projects like the Freedom Stories Project (FSP) - a powerful storytelling platform that shares real journeys of resilience, healing, and human growth from around the world. These aren’t just stories - they’re reminders that behind every freedom, there’s a fight, a breakthrough, a beginning.

Through ongoing research and story-driven campaigns, BTF exists to create not just inspiration, but impact. Every purchase, donation, and member action supports our goal: to build tools, share knowledge, and fund projects that help people break free from what’s holding them back - both inside and out.

Independent Research Papers

This page documents the company’s first steps into independent research and impact projects - work that sits at the intersection of curiosity, creativity, and real-world relevance.

Starting soon, TFE will explore deeply important topics through self-led research projects investigating issues that affect freedom in everyday life - with a focus on mental health, mindset, and emotional wellbeing.

The initial project will examine how music functions as an emotional regulation tool within the mental health practices of young adults. These research insights won’t remain theoretical; they will inform the creation of practical resources, tools, and content designed for real-world use.

Everything here is experimental, purpose-driven, and evolving. The emphasis is less on academic perfection and more genuine research with meaning - following questions and building tools that can truly help.

Coming Soon, Project #1

"To what extend does music function as an emotional regulation tool in young adults mental health practices. ”

Status: Pre-research phase

Focus: Investigating how young adults use music as a daily tool for mood regulation, mental clarity, and emotional self-management.

Goal: To create a set of practical, accessible tools and resources - grounded in lived experience and evidence - that empower people to better understand and support their own mental health using music.

If you have any questions, feedback, ideas, or something you’d like to contribute - or if you’re just curious and want to know more, feel free to reach out.
